Peonies and sweat peas

Love the peonies, but the sweat peas can be a pain.  :-)

This has been a rainy month and cool to boot.  The garden still is in it's infancy.  The weeds love it though.  Pictures soon!

Saturday Sarah did her first ever fishing trip.  We had fun, we didn't catch any fish but we did have a lot of fun.  The experience was memorable for the Bear.  Then today we went and seen the movie Cars 2.  Sarah gave it two thumbs up and 5 stars.  It was adorable watching her sit on the edge of her seat full of wonder and awe.  It was a cute movie and Bob and I had more fun watching it with her.  it was a wonderful "date night" for all three of us!
The Little Explorer

Already we are wondering what we will do for 7 wonderful years of marriage.  I think we might be spending a few days at Longbeach, if mommy can handle not being with her Bear for a few days.  Otherwise, she may just have to come!  Last year we went to Disneyland and the year before we went to Leavenworth.  The year Sarah was born we took a whole 9 days and traveled around the Washington state loop of 101.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to talk with someone at TCC and will be looking at going through the paralegal program.  It's exciting that we might be moving forward again.  Very exciting!

Yummy Kim and Bob Gourmet eats have been appearing from the kitchen.  I think I have discovered a YUMMY CREATION for the BBQ grille.  Burgers mixed with spices from the kitchen and then cheese in the middle.  Also beginning to get a bit creative with Sarah's food.  We will see if these steps help us.  :-)  I hope your week has been as well and is off to as good of a start.

Happy Tending,

Outside my window...  the dark night early summer night.

I am thinking... what a wonderful family I have.

I am thankful for... sunshine, 3 day weekends and a caring handsome man to share my life with.

I am wearing... clothes

I am remembering... about promises.....  how sometimes those most ardent about the cost of breaking them are the ones that do so the most and repeatedly.

I am going...to bed soon.

I am currently reading... The last child in the woods
I am hoping... that I get registered tomorrow!

On my mind... Finding a book, on Charlotte Mason

Noticing that... my baby is looking like a little girl, no longer my baby...  she is so smart and bright.

Pondering these words... lively and energetic....

From the kitchen... Silence.....and it's golden

Around the house... The sound of the A/C

One of my favorite things… watching my wee girl play "Latte stand" and talk and her "phone"

Joy and sadness

make for a little girl and a mommy that need a good nap.

The week has been off and on as far as weather.  There has only been a couple days sunshine.   Yikes.

We did get the A/C in and working, after a long day and putting in a new plug.  Very long day indeed.  The garden is just sprouting, this weather has been unkind to the beans and squashes.  Even tomatoes are looking weepy eyed.  The only thing growing really well are the weeds!

Today, Friday, is Sarah's first ballet recital.  She is excited, and even when she woke up and we were getting ready for a breakfast picnic in the park, I asked her what today was and she said, "BALLET RECITAL."  It should be really fun!  We had to buy the tickets, I did get one free ticket which I set aside for Friday night, and then I have ended now volunteering for Friday night's performance.  I am nervous about that, six little girls and two moms!  LOL  But it should be fun.  But because of last minute sickness, we now have two extra paid for tickets.  Not real happy about that, but if sick I can understand and wouldn't want them around anyway.  However, I kind of also am not surprised about one of the cancels.  I suspected it might happen...  oh well.  One Aunt honestly probably is not feeling well, she didn't look like she did the other day.

We have had a busy week, Monday we collected rocks and painted them then Thursday we played in the mud and generally had a blast digging ditches and holes and watching the water flow down hill.  Sarah looked like a ditch digger!  :-)

Not much else going on.....  we are taking it easy today before tonight performance.

Happy Tending!

Outside my window... clouds

I am thinking... crafting and getting the basement in order and creating a learning space for Sarah.

I am thankful for... family and good friends

I am wearing... sweats and t shirt.

I am remembering... how I also thought my family would be close and my children would be raised around their cousins.  It was the dream of my parents and even my youngest brother at one time.  Not sure what happened.  Feel a bit sad for my daughter that has no cousins close, Bob is an only child.

I am going... hopefully take a nap!

I am currently reading... two college texts

I am hoping... tonight goes well!

On my mind... lessons for August

Noticing that... Sarah looks like she has grown!

Pondering these words... "you can't stop at one..."

From the kitchen... Made a breakfast dish this am, no plans for dinner since we will be out!

Around the house... Clifford is on.

One of my favorite things… naps and happy girls!

Whirls and Swirls

The past few days, since the weather has been unkind to my garden outside, I have been working on the inside.  Lists, plans, ideas...  I even cleaned out a bunch of my kitchen drawers and got rid of stuff (though one would be hard pressed to be able to tell).  Amongst all this flurry (and in between rests --between my back and a cold my breaks are often) the same thoughts keep pushing their way forward.  What to do for next year.  I have already decided that our school year will begin in late August, the last week to be exact.

Now the hard part:  Do I go with a curriculum?  Do I wing it and let Sarah guide the way?  Do I do a combination?  If I go with a curriculum, which one do I use?  Should I pick from many or just one, and the most troubling nagging question; am I doing right?  Should I structure it like a school day?  Will I be able to do this and keep her learning?  My mind is swirling and whirling around about these questions.  This year we have taken the year, when many of her peers have already started preschool, to get use to play and activities and exploration with a few lessons thrown in when and where the interest is.  However next year we should be nearing those cognitive stages where things will begin clicking in her mind as she turns 4 and works her way to 5.  I want to start a pre-K and K (can they really be separated) but where does one start with a 4 year old?  Where do we even fall into in terms of home school style?  Am I the only one?????  Am I all alone on this journey?

Thus the journey and a new chapter is beginning....

Happy Tending!
Outside my window... Sun breaks

I am thinking... about all sorts of stuff and how much I want to create something!

I am thankful for...  A loving God

I am wearing... clothes!  LOL

I am remembering... how as a child I loved pretending my black 3 speed was a horse and we would gallop all over the place.  The magic of childhood!

I am going... to plan a birthday party....  for August.

I am currently reading... several blogs

I am hoping... Sarah and I get over the cold quickly.  Both of us have it now.

On my mind... How can I make more storage space and organize better.

Noticing that... We still have our winter flag up... oooppppps

Pondering these words... "Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?"

From the kitchen... Homemade tomato soup & grilled cheese :-)

Around the house... very quiet .... too quiet.  Bob and Sarah are at the auto parts store!

One of my favorite things… fuzzy socks and clean sheets on the bed.  :-)
