Ten things I like to make

Listening to a bunch of slides for a class assignment, I need to engage the more creative side of my brain as well.  So, here it is.....Tuesdays Post!  Are you ready for it?

It's TOP TEN TUESDAY!
Top Ten Tuesday at Many Little Blessings
My Top Ten Favorite things to cook and bake
  1. I enjoy baking bread.  While I generally now make the Artisan in 5 Minute recipe sometimes I just want a bunch of dough to knead.
  2. Chili.  I enjoy making and EATING chili.  I am buying some new types of beans this year from Azure Standard; they say they make great chili.  Of course when I make chili I MUST also bake cornbread!
  3. Cupcakes.  I enjoy baking cupcakes and at one time I was called the cupcake lady by friends because at every potluck I also brought cupcakes.  I even have a carrier which carries up to 3 dozen!  This is perfect for taking the cupcakes places.
  4. Molasses Crinkle Cookies. I only make them a couple times a year, which maybe why I love making them.  They aren't the most simple cookie to bake.  The recipe makes such a small amount but at 10 years old I won a blue ribbon at the Walla Walla county fair.  They have been a classic cookie in my repertoire ever since.  Do you have a cookie you just do well?  Doing it well (even if it doesn't always turn out) makes it more enjoyable to do.  Even when you get that bad report from a hard fought for grade, or your family is full of complaints, if you have one thing you bake well, you can bake it and feel better right away.
  5. Corn dogs.  Yeah I enjoy it, though again, its one of those things that I only do occasionally.
  6. Homemade egg noodles and noodles as I have grown up knowing them as.  I have made them with beef broth, chicken, and turkey broth.  I have no idea why people rarely make them.  I make them pretty often in the winter (I just view it as a winter meal I guess).  I think one shortcut I do is part of the key.
  7. Zucchini relish.  While the onion portion is NO WHERE near enjoyable the rest is fine and the end result makes it worth it.  I use my dad's blue ribbon winner recipe.  Just a reminder though if you have been a recipient of a jar for a gift, there has been a lot of tears shed while making it.
  8. Semi homemade tomato soup.  Yeah, only semi homemade but something my hubs LOVES.  If you were to take a taste of it you would agree, of course it would not be complete without yummy grilled cheese sandwiches.  And my grilled cheese are yummy in and of themselves.  Onions, multiply cheese flavors hitting your tongue.  Yep, a feast for the king in our kingdom
  9. Stuffed chicken breasts.  The recipe varies, I kind of make it up as I go along.  However, when I make my stuffed chicken breasts the hubs is always happy.
  10. Homemade pizza.  Homemade crust, sauce, cheese, cut up veggies, its all yummy!  Its more filling than what you buy and bake at home or have delivered.  PIZZA FRIDAY!
So there you have it, the top ten things I like to make in my kitchen.  Now I am hungry!  I am making stuffed chicken breasts tonight for dinner, what do you plan to create in your kitchen tonight?

    1. Chili and cupcakes would definitely be on my list too. Zucchini relish sounds good. If my zucchini plant does anything more than just flower, I will be looking into that. As of right now, I'm just hoping to get enough zucchini for bread/muffins. Yep, the whole reason I planted it was to make fresh zucchini bread and muffins :-)

      1. LOL My biggest reason to plant it is for the relish!

    2. I love baking also, but during the summer months it's nice to take a break from the heat. (I still get excited when the cooler weather comes back so I can turn on the oven. hee hee!)

Thank you for linking up at NOBH. I look forward to following, and getting to know you.

    5. Mmmmm you mentioned some of our favorites too. The zucchini relish reminds me that I have not made it in ages but loved it at one time. Tomato soup, chili and homemade bread and pizza are family faves for sure. Thanks for sharing!
