September is FLYING by so fast. Just a reminder of what my 3 in 30 goals were:
I want to try work boxes.
This has been a work in progress still, I have the boxes and am going though our supplies and getting them all ready. My plan is to fill them for the week each Sunday evening.
Develop a rhythm for our day. Yeah, we will see how this goes.
Slow, with all that has been going on doing this has been hard. The kitchen has taken more of my time than we planned. I am happy to be almost done. I keep finding little things that I need to do.
Make menu plans for 4 weeks of meals.
Done but no happy with how its organized. So going to refine it! Plus I have changed my mind about a couple of the meals.... does this happen to others?
I will hopefully post some pictures later tonight or tomorrow afternoon. I hate to admit it I can't find my camera disk! *sigh*
Thank you to Aurie over at Our Good Life for providing the link up and inspiration to keep moving forward!
One thing we did get done: We are going to Great Wolf Lodge in the fall and a trip to Long Beach in December. I am trying to decide if I want to talk to the Hubs about a night away at a local B&B for our 8th Anniversary.... October 9th!
But I did work on planing out our month of Spetember and October a bit....
I am working on getting organized.... I am trying! *smile*
You asked about meal planning. I have been doing a meal plan this month and for the most part it works out well. There have been times when I have had to change meals, or simply skip a larger, more involved meal because people aren't that hungry. That's fine...it just means I need to come up with a simple alternative. I think flexibility is the key with menu planning.
ReplyDeleteI think I need a SIMPLE night plan as well, that doesn't involve milk and PB&J! :-)
DeleteThank you!
That sounds like a lot of organizing! Way to go. I could never follow a meal plan because I never know until the end of the day what I want to eat for dinner. It would change all the time.
ReplyDeleteI need to get meals planned further than the day before so we eat healthier. Sadly when I don;t plan we eat take out more.
DeleteThank you for visiting Amanda!
You're doing great! And I think it's fine to rethink some of your meal choices; the point is to have a plan even if you don't follow it exactly. I have a problem with the rhythm of my mornings. I can't seem to get it moving smoothly. *Sigh*
ReplyDeleteLook at that full calendar! I love meal planning. It is a total life-saver for me since my days are so full and busy. I prepare what I can the night before and then I am not running around like a mad-woman in the kitchen at 4:00.
ReplyDeleteTHank you for visiting. Even with a plan I seem to need more work sticking to it and so I am trying to refine and hone in to make it all workable for the family.
DeleteI think you are missing something on your Calendar. That is come and visit we would love to see you if you are not too busy with everything else.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to have a get together sometime and discuss organizing strategies.
I struggle with meal planning even though I have done it for a while. It works best when I set a day of the week as a category and not a detailed meal. Something along the line of Thursday's are salad, Monday's are pasta, seafood on Friday.
Hope to see you all soon
You're right! we do need to get together! Lets work that out momma!
DeleteThanks for visiting!
Sounds like great progress to me! We definitely change things up when I meal plan, especially a month at a time. We might swap nights from the plan, some meals may go further so I don't even need to cook all the ones I had planned, etc. I think it's like laundry - a never done kind of task :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I want to get some meals ahead as well so I can just pop something in the oven on really full days. ahhhh the dreams! :-)
DeleteHonestly, the only reason I don't meal plan is because I know I'll change my mind. I plan for a couple days or a week at a time, because I only shop once a week.
ReplyDeleteA week sounds good to me! I know before this I was lucky to plan hours in avdance.... ;-(
DeleteI love doing the month at a time meal plan. It saves me so much money and so much hassle. We often switch things up in it. For example this past week we were supposed to have a pepper lime chicken dump (dump all the ingredients into a slow cooker), but it turns out hubby was going to be home and he does not care for pepper at all so we swapped meals around. I find if I at least write them down on a calendar even if we don't feel like having that particular thing for supper at least there is guaranteed to be something else we want and will have that stuff on hand. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I am switching everything from paper to a white board so we can easily see it at a moments notice and if I am at class and hubs is home early he can still get things going.
DeleteThank you for stopping by Sherri.
