Oh Christmas Tree

Sorry gentle friends, there is no giveaway today.  Instead we had a link up scheduled with Veronica at Adventures of D&V.  Check out all the Christmas trees.  Thursday is a giveaway from a magazine you might find interesting and Friday we have a giveaway from the hubs.  But today we are focusing on Christmas Trees and Ornaments.  Do you place a new ornament each year on the tree?

Here are the winners so far:
  • Monday Enchanted Home school Mom Giveaway: Misty R
  • Tuesday The Christian Home school Hub Download club giveaway:  Kim U
I need you to email me you name and a valid email address!  Thank you!!!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are your branches!
Your boughs are green in summer's clime
And through the snows of wintertime.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are your branches!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
What happiness befalls me when oft
at joyous Christmas-time
Your form inspires my song and rhyme.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
What happiness befalls me

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can teach a lesson
That constant faith and hope sublime
Lend strength and comfort through all time.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can teach a lesson.

and in German

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur
zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat nicht zur Weihnachtszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Dein Kleid will mich
was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Trost und Kraft
zu jeder Zeit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Das soll dein Kleid
mich lehren.

Today I am joining with Veronica at Adeventures of  D & V and showing off our
Christmas Tree 2012

Here is our 2012 Christmas Tree.

We have an artificial tree, hubs is allergic.  That being said, our tree is very real looking and many people ask each year if it is real.  We place a special ornament on tree every year.

I am also linking up today with Heather over at Cook Family Chronicles.

A few weeks ago I signed up to do an ornament swap with another blogger.  I was matched with Vivian from Louisiana.  She is originally from Mexico and the ornament she mailed to me was a handmade ornament from Mexico.  It is a beautiful, colorful flower, that can brighten the winter just a bit more.  My photos don't do it justice.

Thank you Vivian and your wonderful homeschool family!  Let me know when your blog is back up and I will link to you.

Heather, thank you as well.  It's a wonderful blessing you have provided us; allowing us to meet a new friend and family in Louisiana.  Thank you.

  1. I have never done tinsel on my tree, but yours just looks so pretty I think I will make it a point to get some (one sale after Christmas!) and put it on my tree next year! :) Thanks so much for sharing your tree! Merry Christmas!

    1. We do it because we always had it growing up. We called them iciles. :-) Yes, but some after christmas for next year. I put about two-three boxes on only and our tree is 7 1/2 feet. Growing up you could hardly see the tree for the tinsel. LOL

  2. Your tree is beautiful. Makes me want to put some tinsel on our tree. Haven't done that in years! But growing up we always had tinsel. That ornament is absolutely gorgeous. Love all the beautiful colors.

    Merry Christmas

    1. Thank you. It is a childhood tradition for me, and we pay just that little bit of homeage to it with the tinsel.

  3. Gorgeous tree! I decorate some, and don't have a tree—but I sure admire those of others.

    1. Thank you Kathy. To be honest, we have had a couple people distance themselves because we do have a tree. :-) But we each must do what we feel God wants in our hearts.
