A letter to my Bear

Today my baby turns a whole 5 years old.  I feel blessed beyond words to be her mother.  She says I am her friend and I know she understands that I love her.  My Bear... I can't imagine life without her. My letter to her as she turns a half decade old.

Today I am thankful that God has given me a sweet bear to be a mommy to.

Born August 9 at 7:16 am

Dear sweet Bear,

Your Daddy and I love you more than words can even express.  We loved you before we knew you existed and we loved you when we found out you were growing inside my belly.  We prayed for you before you existed, and continue to pray for you now.

While I thought for sure you would be a boy, we were overjoyed when the doctor told us you were going to be a girl.  A healthy little girl.  Your Daddy cried, right there in the darkened office, while we were looking at 19 week old pictures of your little self.

We love you so very much sweetheart.  You are smart, inquisitive, and loving.  A combination that I know will rock this world.  It's rocked mine and your Daddy's.

Your sweet voice singing songs, even the ones Daddy taught you, bring so much joy to my heart.  You are a wonderful mixture of your Daddy and I.  You are my sunshine and every day I rejoice to God that He has allowed me to be your Mommy and to raise you.  You make your Mommy and Daddy so proud.

We love you Bear and as you turn 5 today, we know that many new adventures await you as you proudly hold up all the fingers on one hand and shout, "I AM 5!"

We love you sweet heart.

Love you always and forever,
Daddy and Mommy

  7. Oh, this is so sweet. I'm remembering the journals I wrote in to each of the boys, but not consistently, through the years. Those letters will mean so much to your daughter someday. Some of my most prized possessions are a handful of letters from my father and a bunch from my Mom. Birthday blessings!

    1. Thank you Kathy. I blog partly for a record for Bear (a big part). I am so bad about keeping a real journal, try as I might. I wish I was better at it. I started one after I got married but haven't written in it for more than a year I imagine and before that it was hit and miss. Maybe that would be a good goal for september.
